Children’s Garden Tools
We all know that children are fond of imitating adults, most especially their parents. You see little girls wearing mom’s gowns and putting on mom’s makeup. You see little boys tinkering around dad’s tool shed. Although these things are fun for them, it can be quite dangerous if there is no adult supervision, especially with the tools. But if your children really do love to act like little grownups, why not introduce them to gardening?
Children’s Garden Tools
Of course, your children’s garden tools should be fun to use. Unlike adult’s garden tool set, theirs should be colorful since wild and vivid colors attract the attention of children. Also and most importantly, children’s garden tools should be safe to use.
There are a lot of children’s garden tools sold in malls or over the Internet. Among them are seat bags with a storage bag made from canvass underneath the seat. Inside, you will usually see a colorful kneel mat for when they plant their little gardens. Children’s garden tools also include long handled tools like the spade, the rake, and the shovel. It also includes a brush for when they tidy up. Some children’s garden tools also come with it a little trowel and garden fork as well as a wheelbarrow to really complete the set. These long-handled tools are made from either plastic or enamel and not metal, so it is safe for your children.
What is good about children’s garden tool set is that they can easily hide them away under the folding seat.
Teaching Responsibility
A children’s garden tool set is a great way to teach children about duties and responsibilities. Teaching them about responsibility starts with letting them choose the seeds they want to plant, like their favorite flowers or vegetables. This gives them a feeling that they will be taking care of their own “babies,” their plants. Next, give them a small area in the garden where they can plant their favorite flowers. You can help them in the preparation of the soil, but make sure that you are not doing all the work. Let them plant the seed themselves and teach them the right way to water the plants and how to remove seeds. Tell them that it is their responsibility to take care of the plants and let them grow but that you will be there for them in case they need you.
An early appreciation of responsibility makes a conscientious adult.
